Easy Chicken Tandoori Burgers with Yogurt Dill Sauce
This is seriously easy, like super, duper easy. I really love Indian food, but it's tough to resist the naan and tons of rice and when counting calories it can be a challenge not to overdo it. M and I found ways to bring down the calories in our crockpot chicken tikka, using Greek yogurt instead of whipping cream and making cauliflower rice. It turned out amazing. So, a few weeks ago I found a recipe for Tandoori Chicken burgers on Pinterest. I made them and liked them but there wasn't a strong enough flavor for us. Then I remembered that I had some Patak's Tikka paste from a previous recipe and I thought, "I'll try that" on the chicken burgers. You guys, this is so yummy and so easy.
Yogurt Dill Tzatziki Sauce
Because the sauce is better chilled, I make the sauce an hour or so before I cook the chicken. Though, honestly, it's perfectly fine to eat right after you make it. I just like the stronger lemon taste that happens after chilling for a bit.
- 1 c. Greek Yogurt
- ½ c. cucumber (peeled, seeded, and diced;)
- 1 tsp. dill (dried or fresh)
- 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
- Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Process until well combined.
- If you want a more chunky sauce (like I do), just stir to combine instead of processing.
The last time I made this, I left the cucumbers out because I did not have any and the sauce was just as good, but I missed the crunch.
1 -1.5 lb Ground Chicken 6 tbsp of Patak's
(make sure this is not the simmer sauce but the paste; they are different and I don't know how the simmer sauce would work) 4 oz of Greek yogurt
Cooking spray for the grill
Hamburger buns (I use Flatouts, Fold-its)
In a large bowl, mix the tikka paste with the yogurt until well blended.
Then mix in the ground chicken until chicken is thoroughly covered.
Make the chicken into medium sized patties ( My 1 lb of chicken made 5 patties).
Grill the chicken patties until the internal temp is 165. (I did mine on the George Foreman grill, 2 patties for about 7 minutes).
Serve on your favorite bun and top with the tzatziki sauce.
