Due to illness and travel I took a bit of a blogging break. I took a pretty big break from work or writing in any capacity. But now, a few weeks into 2015, I'm ready to get back in the swing of things. I need to re-establish routines, leave some others behind, and get ready for a new semester.
Playing: Trivia Crack It's reminiscent of Trivial Pursuit and so far hasn't taken up a ton of time to answer a few questions, plus I'm learning stuff. Also really enjoying the Elevate app which is a kind of "train your brain" tool. You can choose specific goals like Focus and each day play word and memory games that contribute to keeping your brain alert.
Drinking: mostly tea, I tried this mint iced tea at a restaurant in Birmingham when I was visiting my brother that I just loved. I'm going to try to track some down.
Eating: So, I'm not very good at eating vegetables. I like vegetables but I go through periods of being incredibly lazy about them. While on vacation, visiting M's family, we discovered Taylor Farms Southwest Chopped Salad. M couldn't believed I liked given my usual aversion to shredded lettuce and cabbage but the cilantro and the cilantro lime dressing win me over, I think. It's delicious and I plan to stock up on some for easy lunches and dinners.
Listening: to M read, I love reading a book aloud and a few years ago we started choosing books to read together. It's great on long drives or at night when you don't feel like watching TV. Right now we're reading Jeff Vandermeer's Southern Reach Trilogy; we're on the second book, Annihilation
Watching: not much, actually, though I just discovered that all of the seasons of Columbo are on Netflix as is the 2nd season of The Fall, so those are next on tap.
Reading: In addition to Annihilation aloud with M, I'm reading Courtney Sullivan's The Engagements
Wearing: my new Alex and Ani bracelet from my brother, sister-in-law and niece
Weather: I'm so glad that when we returned from Florida, it had warmed up soon, and while the weather here has been in the 40's, I think it will get colder soon.
Hoping: for a good first week of classes; I feel like the first week is really important at setting up expectations and getting a feel for the class dynamics.
Enjoying: The process of trying to figure out how to fit all the readings in for this semester
Loving: a lazy afternoon nap while I still can :)
