December 27 – Ordinary Joy Our most profound joy is often experienced during ordinary moments. What was one of your most joyful ordinary moments this year? (Author: Brené Brown)
Some of my favorite moments from this year involve riding in the car, which, like I've said before, is a bit odd because I spend a lot of time in the car commuting. M hates driving (or so she says) and early in our relationship I used to take her to work and pick her up because I thought it was a nice thing to do; I was trying to get brownie points and it meant I got to spend some time with her in her hectic schedule. The latter is still true of our lives now.
One day this late summer, we were going to Bloomington and the day was beautiful and almost cool; we were listening to the radio, singing along as usual. When I stopped for gas M suggested we drive along the backroads. It was a perfect drive. I felt incredibly happy and loved and free to enjoy the moment as it was.
