Project Life 2013 : Week One & Cover

Incredibly excited to work on Project Life again this year. I learned a lot about myself, about gratefulness and about the small moments (and big ones) that I try to capture through the year. And I learned what works for me in staying committed to something like Project Life. I want to simplify the process a bit this year. I have a tendency to get overwhelmed with the stuff, all the various ways to approach a layout, the tools (papers, cards, etc) available to use. So I'm doing a few things to streamline the process. I'm using Elise's Seafoam kit, which is so fantastic. I'm also subscribed to Studio Calico's Project Life kits, pieces of which I've used in the layouts below. I really like Cathy Zielske's idea of journaling on Week in Review cards, so I'll be doing that each week, which helps me record highlights or stories of the week in summary and then smaller journaling cards can tell more of a story if I choose to focus on it or have more photos to accompany it.

I know I will have to break my Project Life into two albums. I'm starting with the Clementine album (from last year) because I love the design and the color. I'll finish with the Seafoam Album.

The spine card is from Cathy Zielske's free Project Life downloads. As is much of my title page:

The Hello 2013 and inital card are from Cathy. The quote card is from Elise's fantastic collection of downloadable quotes. I will definitely be using more of these in the future.  The Celebrate Everyday and Open Me are from the Studio Calico monthly kit. Because "open" is my word for 2013, I wanted it to be front and center on this page.

Week One:

One thing I'm not skilled at doing is taking great photos of my layouts, but oh well. These pics are from New Year's, which we spent with my dear friend, Brianne's family. I love that last year's PL began similarly. The grey Jan. card is from the Studio Calico kit as is the 1 card. I slid the paper crowns from our New Year's crackers, and I like that I'm wearing the red one in the photo.

More from New Year's including the fat squirrel M snuck up on to snag the photo. The yellow card is one of the plain Project Life journal cards with a bit of transparent star paper from Kelly Purkey's December kit affixed to it. Stars and the stamp which says "Twenty-Thirteen" "New Year New Memories" from Studio Calico Jan. kit, Block Party.

I spent Saturday and Sunday with my brother, his wife and my niece. Sunday was all about planning for Monday's National Championship Game. Joanna and I made cookies. Well, I read the recipe and offered suggestions while Joanna did all the work. My brother researched surround sound systems and Grace was the cutie she is!

Amazing first week of 2013 recorded.
