I must admit I was a bit disappointed in Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest for various reasons. Mostly the plot gets lost. What I enjoyed about the first film was the story; it was tightly connected, interesting, supernatural. The plot for this one suffers from being the 2nd film in a trilogy. Much of it feels like an extended teaser for the next film: At World's End. It isn't cohesive and that bothers me. There are many great scenes but most feel pieced together and others run on too long. I am sure it's a difficult editing job, especially since they probably shot tons of stuff that didn't make it into the movie but some of the scenes seem ridiculous and out of place alongside some of the others. I've never minded long films. I didn't want the Harry Potter films thus far, to end. But I do hate feeling like I'm waiting for something that never comes. I have mixed feelings about this film. It's a difficult position to be the second in a trilogy because the film has to hold two other ones together. And it was obvious that is what was happening here. I didn't hate it. I was simply disappointed.
